FAQ
So what’s your deal, anyway?
Besides working to build a comprehensive local sports site? Well, since you asked …
The nature of sports media — and media in general — is in flux. Newspapers are contracting and folding, but the consumption of information and the need for it has never been greater. But much of what claims to fill the void still leaves one thirsty. Some is gossip. Some is opinion rooted in wild passion rather than nuanced analysis. Some is just cutting-and-pasting. Some revolves the sacrifice of being “right” in order to be “first.”
To us, this is unacceptable, and the time is perfect to try and redefine ethical, responsible, analytical sports coverage for new media in the new millennium.
That’s well and good, but who the heck are you, and why should I read the site?
The first question is answered here. As for the second question, you should read it because no other independent site covers one NFL team with a reporter who worked eight seasons for two clubs, offering a perspective on the Broncos that you will find no place else.
Why aren’t you covering other teams the way you cover the Broncos?
We will eventually, but for now, our plan is for steady growth within our means. This means prioritizing coverage on what attracts the most visitors – which in Denver, means placing the spotlight on the Broncos and NFL. We’ll touch on what’s transpiring with the other teams, though.
So if you’re not covering the other sports now, when will you?
Our long-term plan is to expand coverage to the other major sports in the immediate Denver area within the next two years. But we won’t do it until we can do it right.
Can I write for you?
Send some work samples and references to our inbox and we’ll talk. But remember the afore-mentioned emphasis on growth “within our means?” That’s a nice way of saying the money isn’t great. But if you can sell advertising, you’ll get a commission.
Those might be “frequently asked questions,” but they were none of mine.
Then please ask away.
